FUTURE
FORESIGHT
MAY 2026

In May 2026 at Innovated by Design, we turned our lens towards Future Foresight—the strategic discipline that helps organisations spot emerging signals before they become mainstream trends. In a world moving faster than most reporting cycles, the ability to anticipate change isn't a luxury; it's a survival skill.

Future foresight isn't about prediction. It's about training your organisation to notice what's already happening at the edges, make sense of weak signals through rigorous triangulation, and turn those insights into strategic action. The future doesn't ambush organisations—it leaves a trail. The question is: are you equipped to read it?

This series explored how leading organisations build foresight as a continuous capability, not a one-off report. How do you move from consuming trend reports to embedding foresight into real decisions? What does it take to shift from prediction to anticipation? And how do you build a foresight signature that outlasts any single futurist?

Working With Futures With Mathias Bern Bjornhof

"Futures Thinking in Practice" introduces strategic foresight as a tool for decision-making under uncertainty. Learn actionable frameworks, real-world cases, and how futures-driven innovation—linked with design thinking—turns insights into prototypes, experiments, and new products or services.

Detectives of the Future: From Signals To Trends with Lourdes Rodriguez

"Detectives of the Future" introduces a methodology to distinguish signals, trends, and hype. This talk explores horizon scanning, offering practical insights for futures thinking, innovation, and structured change analysis, addressing challenges like bias and relevance. Ideal for practitioners and learners.

Decoding Next with Tino Klaehne

"Decoding the Next" by Tino Klaehne reveals how Lufthansa Innovation Hub uses the InsightsOS framework to turn data into foresight: tracking knowns, detecting signals, and exploring futures. Learn to transform noise into actionable narratives and build structured strategic intelligence for your organization.

Mapping Future-Facing Contribution in Innovation work with Sabrina Sullivan

"Foresight in Hybrid Roles" introduces the Foresight Spectrum and Signature—a framework to help innovation leaders in hybrid roles (strategy, design, transformation) make their future-facing work visible, intentional, and valuable. Participants map their unique contribution, clarify its impact, and learn to articulate it effectively within their organization.

Making Sense
of FUTURE
FORESIGHT

In 2007, Kodak's researchers saw the smartphone camera coming. Nokia's team had mapped the smartphone wave years before the iPhone. Blockbuster had a memo about streaming on its desk. None of them lacked the signal. They lacked the discipline to act on it before it was obvious.

Our latest white paper, "Making Sense of Future Foresight," is your practical playbook for building this discipline. Based on our May 2026 webinar series, this guide cuts through the jargon—weak signals, megatrends, scenario cones—and gets to what actually changes how you run your organisation.

Why download?

  • Understand what future foresight truly is and what it isn't (it's not prediction, not a one-off report, not a lone futurist's job)
  • Learn the three pillars: spotting signals, making sense, and creating impact through strategic action
  • Get the Future Foresight Maturity Scan to assess where your organisation's foresight muscle is strong—and where it's still theatre
